After cultivating for three thousand years, even as my master ascended and my junior sister attained immortality, I remained in the Qi Condensation stage. A further hundred thousand years of cultivation saw the crumbling of the immortal world and the destruction of the universe, yet I was still in the Qi Condensation phase. Everyone says that being invincible is lonely, but in your eyes, I am a piece of junk, and yes, I feel a bit lonely too.
Kunlun, the Mountain of Ancestors, also known as the First Divine Mountain, has always been incredibly mysterious, and very few people are able to fully explore it.
Legend has it that a powerful entity once cultivated the path to immortality here in ancient times, thus setting up a maze to prevent disturbances.
Deep in the mountain range, there is a stone house. The house is quite rudimentary. If one does not look carefully, one could mistake it for a large rock.
Inside the stone house is simplistic - a table, a bed, and a handsome young man around seventeen or eighteen is seated cross-legged on the bed.
He places his hands flat on his knees, and wisps of white fog rise from above him, making the young man appear somewhat dim.
Crackling sounds are heard all over his body.
After a while, the young man opens his eyes and looks at a wooden carving on the table.
"Junior Sister sent another letter."
He murmurs, as brilliant light emanates from the wooden carving, revealing a few lines of text.
"Elder Brother Xuan Yu, I hope everything is fine. I don't know if you've broken through the foundation-building stage yet. I, your Junior Sister, have a favor to ask. You are aware that I have descendants in this world. Recently, I have sensed that something major is about to happen. Thus, I wish for you to come down the mountain to provide some assistance. Someone will be waiting outside the mountain in two days. I hope you will not decline."
The young man gives a wry smile, "What can I do? I'm just a useless person. Sister truly overestimates me."
Qin Xuan Yu has been practicing the path to immortality with his master, Master Qing Feng, for three thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight years. Yet, he has been stuck in the Qi Refining stage where each level feels like a bottomless pit, requiring a massive amount of spiritual energy for absorption.
Strangely enough, regardless of whether he has sufficient internal spiritual Qi or not, his Qi Refining stage would increase by one level each year. Now, it has reached three thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight levels, and he's uncertain when he will be able to break through to the Foundation Building stage.
Consequently, Master Qing Feng asked him to focus on body tempering instead of Qi Refining, aiming to achieve enlightenment through the physical body and ascend by surviving a tribulation.
Up to this point, his body tempering levels have reached one thousand five hundred and thirty-four levels, but he is unable to break through to the Transcendant Vanishing realm. This leaves Qin Xuan Yu feeling utterly helpless. He is unable to break through Qi refining or body tempering, and he doesn't know the underlying cause.
The younger junior sister who entered the sect later than him had successfully crossed the tribulation and ascended to the Immortal World five hundred years ago, leaving him alone still cultivating in this stone chamber.
It's a pity that his master, Qingfeng the Ascetic, failed during his tribulation, which left Qin Xuan'yu feeling quite regretful.
Fortunately, after the younger junior sister ascended, she was able to pass on letters to him through a secret method, sometimes even accompanied by pictures, so Qin Xuan'yu wouldn't be too lonely.
Getting up and going out, Qin Xuan'yu went to the medicinal garden behind the stone house, which was planted by his master. For over three thousand years, he was in charge of maintaining it, and now with the younger junior sister entrusting him with a task, he naturally needed to take these herbs, as they will no longer have anyone to care for them.
He carefully pulled out every herb from the soil, wrapped them with spiritual energy, and then put them in his storage ring. After doing everything, he touched the ring on his hand with a trace of nostalgia in his eyes.
After eating some wild fruits and drinking some dew, Qin Xuan'yu began to cultivate again. His life was just this monotonous and simple.
Two days passed in a blink of an eye. Qin Xuan'yu packed everything up and reluctantly looked at the stone house one last time as he started toward the outside of the Kunlun Mountains.
After cultivating here for over three thousand years, he was finally leaving.
On the outer perimeter of the Kunlun Mountains, a modified Hummer was parked on the only road leading to Kunlun.
Inside the car sat a man and a woman. The man appeared strong, his black tight-fitting shirt perfectly accentuating his muscles.
The woman was beautiful, elegant, her black hair was casually tied at the back of her head. She was wearing frameless black glasses, giving her a unique charm.
"Sis, do you think our uncle is out of his mind, asking us to pick someone up here? We've been waiting here for so long, and not a single soul showed up. Should we just go back?" the man said with a bored look on his face while inspecting his phone. They had been waiting here for two hours and haven't seen anybody yet.
The woman shot the man a glance, about to speak, when she caught the sight of a figure appearing in the distance. She nudged the man and whispered, "Someone is coming."
The man perked up instantly, opened the car door, and walked towards the figure. However, when he got a clear look at the person's attire, he grew slightly puzzled.
Is this guy into Hanfu
traditional Han Chinese clothing
? Surprisingly, it suits him quite well.
"Are you Qin Feng?"
Fang Xiong sized up the young man from head to toe before glancing behind him.
Caught off guard, Qin Xuan Yu's expression was blank. Qin Feng, a name he used before he embarked on cultivation, hadn't been used for over 3000 years. He didn't expect his junior apprentice sister to remember it.
He nodded acknowledgingly. He stared at the Hummer and thought, "So this is the automobile that my junior apprentice sister once drew for me?"
"Bro, you've finally arrived. I've been waiting for you for two hours. Let's go, my uncle has specially prepared a welcome feast for you."
Fang Xiong draped an arm over Qin Feng's shoulder, acting familiarly.
Qin Feng felt a little uncomfortable. He took a seamless step forward to escape from Fang Xiong's grip and moved towards the Hummer.
Fang Xiong didn't take much notice, entered the car, started it, and drove off, leaving a trail of dust behind them.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Qin. My name is Fang Yue," said Fang Yue, turning her head towards Qin Feng and extended a hand towards him with a smile.
Qin Feng gave a nod towards Fang Yue but didn't shake her hand. Instead, he started inspecting the interior of the Hummer.
Surprisingly, the seats were quite comfortable, much softer than his stone bed.
Fang Yue retracted her hand awkwardly, a flicker of disdain passing through her eyes. "Just a country bumpkin getting in such a fancy car for the first time," she thought.
He didn't know why his uncle called him a distinguished guest of the Fang family and insisted on not neglecting him.
Along the way, Fang Xiong wouldn't stop talking, Fang Yue occasionally joining in the conversation, while Qin Feng stayed completely silent.
Although his junior sister had told him that this world was no longer the same as before, he hadn't expected the changes to be so great.
Dozens of stories high buildings, moving cars, polluted air, pitifully few trees, Qin Feng felt extremely uncomfortable. He somewhat regretted leaving the mountain; this world was completely unfamiliar to him.
...
In the northern part of Jiangbei in the Fang family's luxurious house, Fang Shaonan called over all his direct relatives. Last night, the grandmaster had manifested, instructing him to send someone to Mount Kunlun to pick up a sage. This baffled Fang Shaonan.
A sage from Mount Kunlun? He had taken note of it, sending his younger brother's children to pick up the sage. And now, Fang Xiong was on the phone reporting that the sage was already picked up and would be arriving shortly.
"Squeak."
An ear-piercing brake sound, Fang Xiong parked the Hummer in front of the mansion, turning to Qin Feng, he said, "Here we are, bro, get off."
Qin Feng was speechless, he was a man over three thousand years old, and yet you are calling him bro. He opened the car door and got out.
He looked around, this mansion was quite luxurious. A group of people came out from it, the man at the front having a square face, a high nose and wide eyes, and he looked full of energy.
Fang Shaonan had initially greeted him with a smile on his face, but as soon as he saw Qin Feng, the smile froze on his face. Is this the sage that grandmaster mentioned?
